My partner purchased Myst IV on GOG for me as a gift last week, but since installing it I cannot for the life of me get it to run. Is this a known problem and is there any way to fix it Sorry to post this here but I'm immensely frustrated by this. Overusing our search engine with a very large number of searches in a very short amount of time Myst IV from GOG won't launch on Windows 10.Using a badly configured (or badly written) browser add-on for blocking content.Running a "scraper" or "downloader" program that either does not identify itself or uses fake headers to elude detection.Using a script or add-on that scans GameFAQs for box and screen images (such as an emulator front-end), while overloading our search engine. There is no official GameFAQs app, and we do not support nor have any contact with the makers of these unofficial apps. Continued use of these apps may cause your IP to be blocked indefinitely. This triggers our anti-spambot measures, which are designed to stop automated systems from flooding the site with traffic. Some unofficial phone apps appear to be using GameFAQs as a back-end, but they do not behave like a real web browser does.Using GameFAQs regularly with these browsers can cause temporary and even permanent IP blocks due to these additional requests. If you are using the Brave browser, or have installed the Ghostery add-on, these programs send extra traffic to our servers for every page on the site that you browse, then send that data back to a third party, essentially spying on your browsing habits. We strongly recommend you stop using this browser until this problem is corrected. The latest version of the Opera browser sends multiple invalid requests to our servers for every page you visit. The most common causes of this issue are: If you have more than one device you can try to google the Vendor ID and the Product ID (this is the hexdecimal number after "PID_") to narrow it down to the exact device.Your IP address has been temporarily blocked due to a large number of HTTP requests. If it doesn't, you might have another HID device causing the issue.ī. If you have one product by that manufacture, unplug it and see if Myst IV runs. Google the Vendor ID to see what's causing the issue. This is called the Vendor ID (who made the product).Ĩ. Right after the "VID_" there will be 4 hexdecimal characters (0-9, A-F). You'll see a list starting with "HID\VID_."ħ. Open the Driver's Properties and go to the "Details" tab.ĥ. Repeat until you find the device that crashes Myst IV.Ĥ. If it still crashes, re-enable that device and disable the next oneģ. Go to "Device Manager" and open "Human Interface Devices."Ģ.ĝisable the first "HID-compliant_"and start Myst IV. I have a Corsair VOID Wireless Headset that caused the issue.ġ. UNPLUG IT! A few people on on GOG (which this version is based on) have found that a wireless headset causes the CTD. These are instructions that someone posted that worked for resolving the issue for a few people The newer the operating system the further away it is from the original system it was built to run on.Ī few people had an issue related to audio on Myst IV that caused crashing. The game was not tested to run on Windows 11, it is likely to cause more trouble for Myst IV. ![]()
